NIMA Codes, a Senegalese-based company-owned app that digitally maps users’ locations via their phone number has upgraded its app and is set to go live in 15 African Countries.

Founded in 2018, NIMA codes make use of phone numbers to create an address system for places without formal street addresses.

The app makes use of Artificial Intelligence to capture reliable addresses in one shot and share it with users on its platform. The saved address serves as a means of direction to interested parties via their phone numbers.

NIMA also has a chat tool on its platform that aids location and reviews. The Co-Founder and CEO NIMA Codes, Mouhamadou Sall stated that the vision to create an addressing app was birthed from the need to specifically identify street locations in the country.

In a report by Tech Crunch, Sall noted that most streets address are depicted in longitude and latitude manner on typical maps. This did not suffice for an accurate description system, thus, birthing the need for further in-depth street mapping systems.

NIMA codes capitalize on mobile phones to serve as an entry point for inputting location coordinates on the NIMA Codes database. These numbers will be saved in users’ languages, thereby, enhancing cross border and language groupings on the platform.

The platform will capitalize on the multi-lingual inputs of users on its platform to expand to 15 West African states. Before now, NIMA has a user-base of 16,000 in Senegal and recorded 100,000 location searches.
