As you may know, Seedstars World has been hosting local events across Africa before the global final begins. Winners have already been chosen from the events held in Mozambique, Tunisia, Tanzania, South Africa, Uganda, and Ethiopia.
Applications for the Ivory Coast event are open until August 30th. The official event will start on September 8th.
The best 10 seed-staging startups in the country will compete against each other and only one will be selected to present the country in the global final.
The winner of the competition will have the chance to pitch for an equity investment totaling $500,000 at the global final which will be held in Switzerland next year.
Anis Kallel, an associate at Seedstars World, said, “Seedstars World is a platform connecting investors to the next generation of startup entrepreneurs, pulling the spotlight from Silicon Valley and Western Europe. As this will be our third time to organize our event in Abidjan, our excitement levels and expectations are high. We have heard so much about the bustling startup ecosystem in Ivory Coast and we are now here to witness the reality.”
Companies who are applying to the event must be younger then 2 years, have raised less than $500,000 USD in funding, and have built a viable product.
The winner of last year’s event in Abidjan was a e-learning startup called Etudesk. The startup provided a web application that aids academic institutions, organizations, and companies to easily create online learning programs.
