This event will be held in September form the 6th to the 8th in Cape Town, South Africa.
SA Innovation Summit was made with the intentions of addressing how little was being done to commercialize technology form South Africa into new industries through creative startups.
The first summit, which was held back in 2008, was dedicated to get the roles and language between the government, industries, and academics aligned correctly to improve the commercialization of technology. This summit was only attended by about 80 people.
Since its beginning, the summit has helped over 500 entrepreneurs. The convention serves as South Africa’s flagship event as it serves to nurture, develop, and showcase the incredible talents of young African startups.
From what started out in 2008 with roughly 80 people has risen to over 3,00 attendees, over 440 delegates, 60 speakers, over 60 exhibitions, and more than 1,100 youth in attendance.
Some of the major speakers include Pieter de Villiers, Patricia Norris, Sabeen Ali, Daniel Guasco, Dylan Kohlstadt, and Kim Hulett, just to name a few. these big names above are all CEOs of their respective companies. The list of speakers doesn’t just include CEOs, however, but also prominent business and other high positions.
There are three different ticket types: Standard delegate tickets, delegate group tickets, and eco-system tour tickets. This is due to the first two days consisting of workshops, exhibitions, speeches, meet-and-greets, and other social events. The final day concludes the event with a bus tour around the Tech eco-system of Cape Town.
The event prioritizes how new startups can provide a financial, social, and/or environmental impact. This is all possible through the tools, knowledge, and networking opportunities that the summit provides.
