Angolan mobile network operator ‘UNITEL’ has been recently signed as partner to the World Economics Forum (WEF) exclusive network of partner level companies. This signing makes it the first African company from the Southern region to become a partner and second to the Dangote Group as partner from the African continent. This partnership will allow UNITEL support WEF in Africa and be represented in the 2020 Davos Annual Meeting, Annual Meeting of the New Champions in China and the Regional Summits in Africa and in the Middle East.
WEF selects a limited number of partners each year with the aid of its board. Alibaba Group, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Bloomberg, Boston Consulting Group, Facebook, Google, the Coca-Cola Company and Dangote Group are some of the successful companies they have selected. They see Angola as a potential business-indulging country.

Established in 1971, UNITEL is a telecommunications company that operates a Global System for Mobile communications (GSM) and Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) standard based network. It offers; voice communications, mobile internet access, text (SMS) and multimedia (MMS) messaging services. They cover all municipalities in Angola and also have investments in other African countries. They have also made significant investments in undersea cables.
