Azuri Technologies, the leading commercial provider of pay-as-you-go solar and off-grid solutions across Sub-Saharan Africa, has officially launched operations in Zambia. They introduced the 24-inch solar satellite television and home lighting system, shortly after announcing $26 million funding round. The sum would be used to speed up expansion plans across Sub-Saharan Africa.

The launch took place at the British High Commission in Lusaka, Zambia. Zambia now has the opportunity to benefit from affordable and clean energy enjoyed by millions in Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. The pay-as-you-go solar solution connects off-grid households to the modern digital world and delivers social and economic benefits once enjoyed only by people resident in urban areas.

Azuri is recognized as the first TV and satellite solution for off-grid consumers in Africa. They have customers subscribe for solar and satellite TV services through regular weekly installments via a pay-as-you-go model. The AzuriTV airs 49 popular Zuku TV channels and over 50 radio channels. It comes with a solar home lightening panel, rechargeable radio, torch, and phone charger compartment.

This is not the first time Azuri will be used in Zambia. They have been delivering affordable clean energy to Zambians since 2016 through their local partner, Kazang Solar.
