Innovation Showcase Week 2019

Facebook and CcHub held the first ever Innovation Showcase Week in Nigeria. A first of its kind, it featured 21 startups with latest innovations and technologies that will redefine industries and solve business and consumer challenges in Nigeria.

The showcase, which kick-started on Thursday 28th, February and concluded on Friday 1st, March 2019 was a platform to display technologies that will transform Security, Healthcare, Agriculture, Energy, Mobility, Virtual Reality and Safety Training. The proffered solutions leveraged on trending technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Internet of Things and Virtual Reality.

During the event, Bosun Tijani, the CEO and Founder of CcHUB said “We recognise the urgent need to accelerate innovation support to medium and large corporates who are positioned to secure significant gains for the economy through smart application of technology

He also said that ISW will close the gap between corporates and startups by being an unprecedented platform where industry leaders can experience and adopt homegrown innovations and solutions first hand.

After a quick orientation, business and industry representatives were ushered into the exhibition rooms where the startups, categorized to showcase their products, welcomed them excitedly.

Speaking on Facebook’s involvement with local startups, Kendra Nnachi, Startup and Developer Programs Manager, Facebook explained that the goal of the Innovation Showcase Week was in unison with that of Facebook.

“ISW 2019 embodies the innovative spirit that defines the Nigerian startup ecosystem. The products and services being launched here by the Facebook and CcHUB supported startups will empower individuals and enterprises to change our world for the better,” said Kendra.

The Exhibiting Startups were categorized into four groups:

Artificial Intelligence and Security

Chiniki Guard, Artificial Intelligence for detecting shoplifting and theft in real time

SayPeace is a real-time hate speech analysis and detection program for social media

Identity Tech is a Customer journey solution for enterprises

E-Estates, a Resident management solution built for estate managers and residents

DeepQuest AI, an Offline Artificial Intelligence APIs for easy deployment of AI solutions

Insyt is a social monitoring platform for tracking the public’s perception of your brand in English and Pidgin.

Health and Agriculture

Vetsark developed a Mobile app for predicting, preventing and managing disease outbreaks in livestock

Doctoora is shared medical facilities for doctors to start medical practices

Plantheus is an app that easily diagnoses crop diseases and proffers solution in real-time

Trep Labs is a low-cost infusion meter for simpler and safer blood transfusion and drip treatment

Gricd, an IoT-powered active cooling box for transportation and storage of temperature sensitive items.

Truppr sets up fitness programmes as an engagement tool for increased employee wellbeing and productivity.

Energy and Mobility

UpNepa is real time power supply data for communities and remote control of appliances

Hydrolite is an Instant flashlight powered by water immersion technology

Cycles is a bicycle-sharing systems for commute, fitness and leisure in estates and universities.

Lara is a Chatbot for public transit directions in Nigeria and other developing countries.

Smart Electricity is wireless-based charging solutions for mobile gadgets.

Virtual Reality and Safety Training

Quadron VR is for ensuring occupational safety training using virtual reality

Kanji Drive, a Virtual Reality simulator for training new drivers and evaluating the skill set of experienced drivers

Project Move is another Virtual Reality simulator for training new drivers and evaluating the skill set of experienced drivers

These ground-breaking innovations were developed under Facebook’s FBStart Accelerator and CcHUB 2018 Incubation Program.
