NIGERIAN STARTUP SAFI.NG PLANS TO EXPAND - Techgistafrica

Safi.ng, which is Lagos-based, plans to extend its on-demand dry cleaning and laundry services nationwide. After spreading further throughout its own country, it intends to spread further across the continent of Africa.

The startup was originally launched last January with the purpose of enabling its customers to make requests for laundry and dry cleaning services.

The application of these convenient services is available through the company’s website and mobile app which makes it highly convenient for customers.

With the startup owning its own dry cleaning factory in Lagos, the company also offers free pick-up and delivery.

The team of Safi.ng is currently shortlisting potential partner dry cleaning companies based on standards and quality. They currently have over 700 registered users with roughly 300 monthly users. They have also estimated that they receive between 80 and 100 new users per month.

Last year, the startup received angel funding last year, but the company is further seeking more investments eagerly to help with their growth.

Gbenga Odegbami, the co-founder of Safi.ng, said, “Our plan is to operate in every metropolitan city in Africa. We are presently in Lagos with plans to expand to Abuja and other viable cities around the continent.”

Odegbami believes Accra, Luanda, Nairobi, Abidjan, and Johannesburg are the main targets for the expansion of his startup.

“We aim to revolutionize the market by providing quality dry cleaning and laundry for less than US$100 per month, with the added benefit of convenience and quicker turnaround time. We save our customers money and time, every time,” he said.

There is a lot of competition in this industry al around the continent. One of the major competitors in Nigeria is the washing machine within households. The company has by far used multiple forms of advertising including direct sales. Referrals, word of mouth, and experiments using Google Adwords.
