Big news! Visa has acquired a $200 million stake in Interswitch—Nigeria’s digital payment firm. The investment from Visa values Interswitch at $1 billion while boosting the fintech ahead of its proposed dual IPO set for 2020 at the Nigerian and London Stock Exchange.

Next on the Big 5, Vivo has launched V17 Pro, its first pop-up camera smartphone in Kenya, shortly after opening its Nairobi regional office.

There is also news that Lori Systems, an on-demand haulage startup has raised an undisclosed Series A funding round. The company will leverage the funds to strengthen its business operations across Africa.

Also, Frontier Car Group, the parent body of Cars45 has raised $400 million funds from OLX Group. It will leverage the fund to scale Frontier Car Group’s business and expand to a new marketplace.

Finally, Google has launched a new Google station in Western Cape, South Africa. This station will provide free, fast and open Wi-Fi networks to South Africans.
