Guess what? Gartner Inc. has revealed that the MENA region will spend the sum of $1.7 billion on Information Security and Risk Management in 2020. This is in a bid to stop the increase in cyber-attacks in Africa and MENA. Interesting right?

Next on the Big 5, Twiga Foods has secured $30 million Series B funding to digitize food distribution in a Goldman Sachs led Series B round. Twiga foods will leverage the money to fund its technology and logistics assets.

Did you hear? The African Development Bank (AfDB) has partnered Seedstars World, a Swiss-based startup competition in emerging markets to enhance youth employability in Africa. The deal aims to create 25 million jobs and equip 50 million young people with skills to enhance employability and entrepreneurial success by 2025.

Also, MAN Impact Accelerator has shortlisted two African startups out of the eight selected for its 2019/20 cohort. The startups are Zembo from Uganda and Arone from Nigeria. The program will kick off in November 2019.

Finally, the South Africa State Information Technology Agency (SITA) and Microsoft have partnered to move all government-owned services information to Microsoft-owned cloud platform, Azure Web Services. This was signed at the GovTech conference in Durban.
