Last week was another shining week for Nigeria’s tech industry as the country’s Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo led some members of the Presidential Advisory Group on Technology and Creativity on a tour to Silicon Valley on a collaborative investment drive. Farmcrowdy Beats Jumia, Konga And Others To Win Digital Business Of The Year Award In Africa…  Digital Agriculture Platform, Farmcrowdy added another feather to their hat as the startup took home the ‘’Digital Business of the Year Award’’. With many major strides in just 18 months of its formation, the award was well deserved for the FarmCrowdy Team and a major way to recognize their contribution to agrifinance in Africa.

In a bid to become a powerhouse in terms of technology and entrepreneurship in Africa, President Paul Kagame of Rwanda has given a go ahead to Andela’s partnership proposal.  Kagame’s administration agreed to work together with the talent accelerator to set up a software development hub in Kigali. Another win for Andela. A major step in the right direction for Rwanda.

Pan-African Edtech Incubator, Injini Has Announced Its Second Cohort…The incubator announced the start-ups admitted into its second cohort and the selected start-ups include; Learning factory (Zimbabwe), eLimu (Kenya), Nahana Afrika (South Africa), Bluebic (Nigeria), Langbot (Ethiopia) Slatecube (Nigeria), ScholarX (Nigeria) and Lightbulb (South Africa).

The leading independent data, voice and IP provider in eastern, central and southern Africa, Liquid Telecom has signed an agreement with Telecom Egypt that will enable it to complete construction of a terrestrial fibre network from Cape Town to Cairo. Read more here.
