The partnership draws from Realness Institute’s mission to empower storytellers on the continent and the diaspora and push the African audio-visual industry forward with Netflix bringing their expertise in episodic content development, production, and insight into global content trends.

Submissions will go live to creatives at the end of November, from which six writers will advance and have their submissions developed and commissioned by Netflix.

They will also receive a monthly stipend of $2,000 will be given to selected writers and they are expected to be available full time from June to September 2021.

The institute has successfully executed five editions of the Screenwriters’ Residency program since it was founded in 2015 and will expand its offering in 2021 to the episodic content space.
