Opera, a popular browsing and digital platform announced the launch of OLeads to scale more than 40 million SMEs in Nigeria. OLeads is an online lead generation platform that small and medium-sized businesses can leverage for online visibility. This will help scale businesses that are majorly carried out offline.

Opera looks to transform the digital ecosystem in Nigeria by removing barriers for local businesses to come online and connect with existing and potential customers. It is introducing a range of innovative products in the market such as Opera Ads, OList and OLeads. Data from the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) confirmed that the number of SMEs in the country were more than 40 million.

According to Per Wetterdal, the VP of Global Business Development at Opera, “Nigeria is undergoing rapid digitization with already more than 110 million people onboard the internet and it is estimated to grow to 188 million within the next four years.

“With OLeads, we are enabling millions of businesses to participate in this digital transformation, providing a platform with user-friendly tools and a fast and easy way to come online, reaching Opera’s massive user base,” he added.

In September 2019, OLeads had a soft launch in Nigeria and has more than 3000 businesses onboard the platform so far. It helps SMEs in Nigeria to easily create mobile websites and landing pages for marketing campaigns. The platform requires no prior programming, designing skills and provides a range of templates for businesses to personalize accordingly.

More businesses can easily find their target audiences online with OLeads. SMEs have access to Opera Ads for running ads directly to Opera’s user base of nearly 120 million in Africa using Opera Browser and Opera News. They also have the right to solely manage the data generated from the websites without the need for a third-party.
