Dataleum, a Nigeria-based data analyst accelerator has trained about 100 HR practising and aspiring professionals on the impact of data in Human Resource Management. The training, which is at its inaugural stage, was tagged HR meets Data Summit 2019.

On the 14th of December 2019, HR Meets Data summit brought together HR professionals to discuss the challenges they encounter and how businesses can maximize HR analytics. Founded earlier in 2019, Dataleum has the mission to equip people with relevant skills in data science and analytics. The startup offers accelerator programs and has trained about 1000 students so far.

The first session of the summit, titled ‘How to Hire Good Talents’ was discussed by Ore Boboye, COO Jobberman. In his words, “As an HR professor, you should be able to take a client’s vague requirement and make it simple and focused.

He gave recommendations to ensure that trainees find the best hire. These include having a clear recruiting strategy, a recruitment dashboard and KPIs, a committed team and the involvement of stakeholders.

Mr Biodun Kolade, the Founder of Cola Grey Consulting spoke during the second session of the summit. Titled HR Analytics: Pros and Cons, he noted that HR analytics make sense of all the numbers and turn them into valuable insights. However, most of these professionals cannot analyze, derive valuable insights or make meaning from the data. Some of the cons he identified include high cost of data and privacy concerns.

This was followed by a keynote speech by Innocent Oseghe, Managing Partner – Human Capital Partners. He spoke on “Maximizing the Effectiveness of HR Analytics to Improve Business Growth”.

He mentioned that making decisions using insight from the data is part of the critical capabilities of Future HR. Data Analytics will also shape the future workforce, provide purpose-led culture, and shape employee experience.

During the summit, two participants were awarded scholarships to attend Dataleum’s January HR Analytics class. The panellists addressed questions and offered advice on how HR professionals can prepare themselves for the data-driven future.

The second Strategic HR Analytics training is scheduled to hold on the 11 of January 2020. Visit www.dataleum.com  or send an email to dataleum@gmail.com for more details.
