MASTERCARD EXTENDS DEADLINE FOR AFRICAN APPLICATIONS FOR ITS START PATH GLOBAL 2017 CLASS

EXTENDED TO: SUNDAY, APRIL 23RD, 2017

The deadline for e-commerce startups in Africa to apply for the Start Path Global Class has been extended to the 23rd of April. The Start Path Global Class is a global initiative by Mastercard to support innovative later-stage startups who are reshaping the future in the e-commerce space.

Startups that qualify for the program are those that are rethinking financial services and have raised significant seed or Series A round of investment. To ensure that the continent of Africa is well represented in the global class, focus is being placed on the continent. Startups from all over the continent are highly encouraged to apply.

The specific criteria call for the following things:

Over the course of a six-month virtual program, the Start Path program will provide startups with support in the areas of operations, mentorship and investment necessary for these companies to develop. Companies selected for the program gain the added benefit of access to Mastercard’s global network of experts, customers and partners of Mastercard and the ability to innovate on top of Mastercard products.

Through the last four classes conducted since 2014, 20 percent of the startups enrolled in the class have gone on to work with Mastercard in commercial capacities or in conducting pilots.
