Nigerian mobile healthcare startup, Kangpe has opened its first on-site clinic ‘Reliance Family Clinics’ in Lagos Nigeria. The startup began operations as a telemedicine service provider which allows patients receive health enquiries.

Kangpe can be accessed through its various mobile platforms which is open to customers at any time of the day and responds within 10 minutes. If there is a need to see a doctor, the site refers customers to doctors who can help them further. Kangpe is ranked among the top 5 best-funded startups in the digital health sector in Africa, having raised about $1 million.
Femi Kuti, Kangpe’s co-founder said they are trying to give African people access to healthcare at an affordable price. He said he would love Kangpe to become the “Oscar Health to Africa” that connects people to initial consultations, health insurance or further medical care.
The startup was founded in 2015 by Femi Kuti and Opeyemi Olumekun as a telemedicine service. They later evolved to integrate Reliance HMO—a technology equipped health insurance company to its telemedicine service. The service is operating in Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya with service to a market of over 245 million people. They have plans to further expand to other African countries.
