A NEW ADDITION TO RIDE HAILING IN NIGERIA

NIGERIA’S “OGA TAXI” LAUNCHES A NEW RIDE-HAILING APP

Oga Taxi, a ride-hailing company in Nigeria (think of it as a Nigeri-based Uber), has announced the launch of a new social car-pooling app. This would take C2C ride-sharing to another level in Nigeria. The company, which was founded three years ago, aims to make transportation quick, safe and convenient. To find out more about Oga Taxi’s new launch, read further.

The new app or feature allows passengers to choose between solo and pool-riding. With the latter, the passenger would be able to choose whom they share a ride with and get a discount of 40%. The app has an algorithm that suggests profiles of people who are going in roughly the same direction so that passengers can choose and share rides together.

This new app was developed by a start-up based in London known as Splyt, that specializes in developing technological solutions for companies like Oga Taxi worldwide. The app supports global roaming and enables cross-bookings between companies. Hence, users of other apps who are in Nigeria, can book a ride directly through their local app and have it operated by Oga Taxi. Users who are outside of Nigeria can also still book rides with Oga Taxi outside of the country.

Oga Taxi is already expanding into Abuja, Lagos and Port-Harcourt. With the introduction of this new feature, Oga, which is still a young company, is looking to be able to expand into other areas of Nigeria.
