Orange Social Venture Opens Call for Submissions

The Orange Social Venture Prize aims to promote social innovation by supporting development through information and communication technology. In addition to funding of up to £25, 000 euros, Orange will provide six months support to the 3 finalists from business and telecom professionals.

The 9th edition of the Orange Social Venture registration is ongoing to award the best business venture projects using technological innovation in the service of the society. There are two stages of competition: first, the project competes for national award against other projects in the country, then the national winner competes in an international competition with a different jury and for higher stakes.

Entrepreneurs from 18 participating countries will be able to apply between 4th March – 30th May, 2019. The participating countries are Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Cote D’Ivoire, Egypt, Guinea, Guinea Bisau, Jordan, Liberia, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Niger, Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Tunisia.

Awards

1st Grand Prize: £25, 000

2nd Grand Prize: £15, 000

3rd Grand Prize: £10, 000

The winners are provided with customized digital mentoring and advice by Orange experts.

 

2018 Winners:

OKO (1st) gives access to provide micro-insurance services to farmers, even in remote areas, using satellite surveillance.

Isahit (2nd) helps young women seeking employment or business opportunities by employing them for digital tasks.

AnemiApp (3rd) addresses ‘drepanocytose’– a type of anemia, by coaching sick individuals and helping them access better healthcare.

National Vote: June 3rd – July 1st

International Vote: September 23rd – October 3rd
