AfriLabs Launches a €2M Capacity Programme at AfriLabs Annual Gathering 2019

AfriLabs launched a €2M Capacity Programme at the AfriLabs Annual Gathering 2019 held at African Union headquarters, Ethiopia. AfriLabs Capacity Building Programme (ACBP) is funded by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD). 

AfriLabs is a Pan-African network of 174 tech innovation hubs across 45 African countries. The company was founded in 2011 to support the growth of tech hubs and facilitate economic development in Africa. 

It launched ACBP for hub founders to access Africa-tailored content, models and best practices for hub management. The fund was availed by AFD Group, a French aid that finance initiatives that promote a sustainable world.

ACBP is a 36-month intensive training and certification course for hub managers and staff, in partnership with a major African university. The program includes 30 physical workshops across 15 African countries in partnership with Afric’Innov and African Business Angels Network (ABAN). It will host a series of peer-to-peer virtual capacity-building webinars across 12 quarterly learning weeks. 

Other highlights include sponsorship opportunity, a €15000 capacity building awards and €2000 meet-up grants for SDG per selected hub. When executed, the project will increase the percentage of successful and investment-ready startups in Africa.
