Emerging cloud service provider afriQloud, has launched in Uganda. The platform was birthed out of the partnership between BringCom—pan-African connectivity provider, Imprimatur Capital—a science and technology investor, and GIG Technology—European edge cloud software company. They plan to provide secure cloud service for the African tech ecosystem at an internationally competitive rate.
afriQloud has plans of expansion to 15 other African countries by 2020 and across the continent in due time. The cloud service provider is planning to save African companies the cost and stress of hosting their servers by international companies.

According to Hans Van Linschoten, the founding partner of Imprimatur Capital Africa and CEO of afriQloud, there is significant potential in the African cloud market. Considering that $2 billion has been estimated for the market in 2019. He said they are excited to bring the cloud service to Africa. He also revealed plans to ensure data sovereignty in the continent.
afriQloud plans to create a link between African incubators and tech hubs. They will install Edge Cloud in cities and tech hub ecosystems to host startups and developers.
Hans van Linschoten also said the service is long overdue for Africa. He further revealed that they will be expanding their services this year to East Africa – Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, and Ethiopia; Southern Africa– South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique; and West African– Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Ivory Coast, and Cameroon.
