AirtelTigo and Huawei Collaborates to Upgrade Ghana’s Network

AirtelTigo the second largest network mobile operator in Ghana has partnered Huawei Technologies on a $30 million network upgrade project. They will leverage the project to avail the customers with faster internet experience.

Warren Fletcher, the Chief Technology Officer of AirtelTigo, said the investment in their technology and infrastructure, indicates their commitment to ensuring the provision of quality network and improved internet experience for their clients. He said they are modernizing all their sites in Ghana, with new technology that will upgrade their network and allow the telco to create a seamless experience for their clients.

According to Mitwa Kaemba Ng’ambi, the CEO of AirtelTigo, they are experiencing a massive internet growth rate amongst their customers, and the growth borders on the overall increase in internet penetration in Ghana. She expressed their excitement in being a part of Ghana’s digital transformation journey.

Huawei’s Managing Director, Tommy Zhouwei noted that they are committed to aiding the digitization process of Ghana with AirtelTigo. He said the project will offer enhanced connectivity to Ghanaians.

The project has been designed in phases and will run from June 2019 through October 2019 in the greater Accra region.
