Demo Africa has revealed the 35 chosen startups that will have a chance launch their products in Johannesburg, South Africa this year for the event.

The currently shortlisted 35 startups were chosen from a large pool of 956 applicants from 29 African countries. The 35 startups are destined to be shortened down even further before the final pitch event.

There are ten startups that represent South Africa, nine that represent Nigeria, seven that represent Kenya.

Two startups represent Ghana and Zimbabwe each, and one each representing Botswana, Egypt, Senegal, Uganda, and Cameroon.

These remaining startups with go through a process that will leave only 26 left to proceed to the final. The finalists will join the other four selected startups that were handpicked form regional innovation tours.

“We are very pleased with the applications received, the diversity and quality is amazing,” said the executive director and producer at DEMO Africa, Harry Hare.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the startups, partners and judges that took part in this process and want to congratulate the startups that have made it this far,” said Hare.

The startups that represent Nigeria include Mobile Forms, Game Base, Atele Advanced Solutions, Peachwater Consulting, Suvenia, Medsaf, Pepperest, Pesea Techsolutions, and Lithium Technologies.

Chimera IoT, Mobar, Shield Enterprise, ZOA Tech, Daktari Africa, Taz Technologies and Optimetriks, with Ghana represented by Bisa and KudiGo, and Zimbabwe represented by Dadala and DrCADx are the startups representing Kenya.

While the startups representing South Africa include SeeBox producer K Measure, Picadoo, Ironhead Trading, Tapsnapp, Airbuy, FinChatBot, Intelligent Routing, Power Plus Energy, Rooster and Mobbisurance.
