Ericsson, a Swedish telecom multinational company, has secured seven (7) 5G agreements with telecom operators in the Middle East and Africa. This solidifies its position as a key 5G network providers in the region.

Ericsson signed agreements with seven telecom operators, a bulk of the 5G deals in MEA. It signed deals with Etisalat UAE, Ooredoo Qatar, STC Saudi Arabia, Zain Bahrain, Batelco, MTN South Africa, and Mobily. These telcos are championing 4G and 5G networks to improve the telecommunication sector in the region.

Ericsson also signed 78 commercial 5G agreements with telecom operators globally, with 24 deals for live networks. The Middle East and Africa region contributed about 29% of the total networks.
The Head of Networks, Ericsson Middle East and Africa, Chafic Traboulsi noted that 5G is the new Goldmine for telecom operators in MEA. The network will offer operators the opportunity to diversify their services, offer low latency services, and superior reliability.
Ericsson cemented its 5G leadership position in the MEA market in 2019 and is set to improve customers’ network capabilities in the coming years. With the continuous growth in technology, we look forward to having commercial 5G prevalence in the telecom sector.
