The SAP Young Professional Program is supporting Ethiopia’s move towards the 4th Industrial Revolution by graduating 25 trained youths. The program was sponsored by SAP and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
Ethiopia’s move towards adopting the 4IR has been huge. The country has signed diverse agreements with tech moguls to thrive in this regard. It partnered with the World Bank to liberalize its economy and unlock greater innovation potentials.
Thus, the SAP/GIZ program seeks to corroborate its 4IR effort by training youths in preparation for the fourth industrial revolution.

The SAP Young Professional program was launch in 2012 under the SAP Skills for Africa. It seeks to offer technical knowledge and expertise to young Ethiopians. The programme targets best Universities graduate to train on software development and the latest innovations in SAP.
The selected participants also become SAP partners and associates in Africa after completing the 2-3 month training program.
The Managing Director SAP Central Africa, Pedro Guerreiro said that technology is the language of the new generation. It is also the best opportunity to build a bright future for Ethiopia and the African continent. It is, therefore, on this knowledge that the SAP local digital skills take its hinge.
He also stated that it is part of the company’s contribution to providing local digital skills and conducive tech opportunities for the population.
The program also seeks to create 450 digital inclined jobs in Ethiopia for highly qualified IT personnel over the next three years.
