Facebook has revealed plans to ban Huawei from pre-installing its apps on their devices. The ban cuts across the main Facebook app and its WhatsApp and Instagram subsidiaries. This action is due to the entity list released by the US government that blacklists Huawei as a security risk in May 2019.
This simply means that Huawei won’t be able to include the mentioned apps out of the box, as it does with other pre-loaded services like Twitter. The ban, however, does not affect existing Huawei phone users. They will also continue to download and receive updates for the apps, pending Facebook’s decision. Huawei is yet to comment on the Facebook decision since the announcement was made.

Huawei’s existing phone users run the risk of not having access to updates or download Facebook apps, once Google restricts access to Play store in the future. This news is coming in time to compliment Google’s ban on Huawei over its core Android software, to take place after mid-August.
This move by Facebook according to the Verge, obstructs another avenue for Huawei to deliver important third-party apps to their clients. Huawei might have to build its own app store in the future.
