Facebook aims to hide like counts on its News Feed post soon. The social networking giant makes this move in a bid to boost the mental health of its users. the new feature will help protect users from envy and depression.

This move aims to stop users from comparing themselves to their friends with more likes. It also aims to stop inferiority complex amongst youths and as well stop users from deleting posts with little or no likes.

Facebook has already tested the same feature on Instagram and with the feature coming to Facebook proper, it is safe to say that the company is on a mental health promotional journey.

The company has rolled out the Instagram feature in 7 countries, Canada and Brazil inclusive. The feature shows just a few names of mutual friends who liked it instead of the total number.

Facebook has not started running the proposed service yet. However, if the change is eventually implemented, Facebook posts will no longer show the number of likes or reactions. As the total number will be visible to just the post creator. Other users will only see a few reactions and a note that indicates that the post was liked by “[a friend] and others.”
