Surfline Communications and Ghana Library Authority (GhLA) has collaborated to provide free wifi connectivity to public libraries members in Greater Accra Region, Ghana. The partners have signed a memorandum of understanding.
Surfline will devise a model for user subscription on the library user network and also provide live video streaming on Facebook during the Year of Reading Project campaign. GhLA will publicize and project the partnership in the social and traditional media. They will also provide space for Surfline branding during Key events.

The Executive Director GhLA Hayford Slaw was happy that the collaboration will help them connect more. According to him, it will be welcoming to have libraries were the young can come and use the internet. He said the vision of the partnership was to make sure libraries in the country has internet connectivity.
He said that the GhLA was working with the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication (GIFEC) to equip libraries in the country with computers, “Given the application of distance learning in the country, every single Ghanaian should have access to a computer and the Internet.”
Surfline CEO Rene Gameli-Kwame complimented the management of GhLA for the initiative and pledged Surfline’s readiness to support and work toward the vision and even go beyond the provision of internet connectivity.
“We have a team of engineers who understand how automation works, how hosting works and we are more than happy to render these services to the GhLA to help you achieve your objective.” he said.
