Following the inclusion of Huawei in the Entity List released by the US government—that bans Huawei from importing US hardware and software without the government’s approval, Google has cut off ties with the Chinese tech giant. This simply entails that all future phones from Huawei will not have Google services.
Considering the stance of the Trump administration that sees Huawei as a National Security Threat, Google has followed the order to cut off ties with Huawei. In essence, Huawei users will no longer have access to Google Play Store, Google Play Services, OS Updates and Security Patches.

Huawei who is dependent on Android—an open source system, has lost business ties with Intel, Broadcom, and Qualcomm but the blow from Google will be a heavy one. This is because the company’s operating system is heavily dependent on Google.
According to ExtremeTech, Google has confirmed that they are complying with the directives of the US government and at the same time, considering ways to align with Huawei in the future. Even though Play Services will continue to work on existing Huawei phones, OS updates will be off the table.
Huawei will have to develop its own alternative to the Android OS. The Chinese tech giant once released a statement in March 2019, that they have released their own Operating System in case Google comes up with reasons to cut them off. They started building this OS in 2012 after the ZTE and US feud. This will be the perfect time to unveil the OS.
Huawei has, however, released a statement that the restriction on Huawei by the US will not make the country more secure or stronger but it will limit the country to more expensive and inferior alternatives.
