Nigeria’s payment giant, Interswitch has partnered with KuBitX to provide a blockchain solution. They will leverage this partnership to ensure successful blockchain inclusion in Africa. Users who use KuBitX won’t have the need to change currencies at the black market, transactions can be made using the mobile wallet.

Nestlé has launched the Research & Development Innovation Challenge, a part of the Nestlé Global Youth Initiative. The platform is a means for startups and university students to contribute innovative ideas that will transform society. The first edition took place on the 27th of May 2019, in Ghana with subsequent ones to happen in Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, South Africa and Senegal.

South Africa’s Telco ‘Telkom’ year ending financial report, released on the 27th of May 2019, revealed that people chose fibre and LTE options over fixed line internet solutions. The telco experienced significant growth in the growth of their mobile services by 58.3% and mobile subscribers increase by 85.9%.

Zimbabwe’s on-demand ride-hailing service ‘Vaya’ owned by Econet wireless through Cassava Smartech, has recorded a significant growth of 10,000 drivers within 10 months of operation. Another report revealed that Vaya provides over 100,000 rides across Zimbabwe.

Ebonyi Transparency Accountability Network ‘ETAN’ partnered with US-based HOPAS Foundation to train 100 students in STEM. They intend to infuse STEM into the educational curriculum in Ebonyi State, Nigeria.
