MainOne—West Africa’s top internet connectivity and data solutions provider, launched Digital Lagos: Broadband for All’ project campaign on the 22nd of May 2019. The company intends to drive digital transformation in Lagos through this initiative. To actualize this project, MainOne will invest the sum of N25 billion through the next 2-3 years.

Facebook and CCHub’s collaborative space ‘NG_Hub’ turned on the 22nd of May 2019. And to mark the celebration, Facebook has released an infographic that highlights their achievement in the past year. The infographic showcased that; NG_Hub has played host to 526 events with over 11,490 attendees, supported 11 different industries like; agriculture, catering, education, and trained over 50,800 small businesses in digital skills within 20 states in Nigeria.

A new startup is in the block! ‘Arone Delivery’ has launched a drone delivery service in Nigeria. The startup uses solar-powered drones to deliver medical supplies swiftly. Arone Delivery is the first indigenous drone delivery service in Sub- Saharan Africa, considering that Zipline—a US-based on-demand delivery, has been running a drone delivery service in the continent.

Bharti Airtel— India’s second-biggest wireless carrier, intends to list its African subsidiary (Airtel Africa) on the London Stock Exchange through an IPO. Although the deal is yet to be announced by the company, reports have it that Airtel intend to raise about $1 billion from the IPO.

BCX– South African-based information and communications technology company, has launched a new Wide Area Network (WAN) called “Software-defined WAN (SD-WAN). SD-WAN is a single management platform that allows businesses to manage physical and virtual devices from a central controller. It will be hosted on CISCO’s technologies.
