Microsoft has launched the Windows PC Affordability Initiative in Africa. The program seeks to reduce the prevalence of software piracy in Africa and other emerging markets.
Cyber fraud, software piracy, and data theft are prevalent in Africa. In recent time, the continent has been embattled with various Cyber hacks and fraud.
Meanwhile, the potential of the software market in Africa is enormous and remains a key focus in the Africa continent. Microsoft is taking assistive measures that will curb the growing menace of Software piracy.

The initiative will partner with other tech companies like Acer, Asus, Dell, Intel, Lenovo, Musek and SMD Technologies to offer affordable software across Africa.
It will also provide PC users with authentic experience via genuine software and hardware devices. This will create awareness through the same medium.
The Regional Manager, Consumer & Device Sale Microsoft in the Middle East & Africa, Deniz Ozen applauds the launch of the Windows Affordability Initiative in Africa. He noted that only a third of personal computers (PCs) shipped to Africa have genuine software. This ingenuine software leads to data breaches and malware attacks.
Lenovo, a partner of the initiative noted that it will leverage the partnership with Microsoft to provide the best software to Africa. It will also create IT environment products that will not compromise the security, reliability or efficiency of its PCs.
The Window PC Affordability Initiative will educate consumers on the risks of using pirated software via partnering companies.
