The MTN Ghana foundation has commissioned a modern library for a High School in Ghana Eastern region. The facility is a 20-seater ICT Centre, 200 capacity library and Teachers common area. The foundation also partnered with Huawei Ghana to deploy fiber broadband to enable internet connections for the school.
The library grant over 2000 students access to textbooks, research materials, electronic books from reputable databases and publishers worth up to $112,487.64. The Foundation has however constructed and handed over 26 ICT centers, four libraries and refurbished the Western Regional Library a few years ago.
CEO of MTN Ghana, Selorm Adadevoh said, “the main function of a school library is to develop the reading and research habits of students. It basically fills an information gap and helps to open the world view of students.”

“One day, I believe we will read about some great Ghanaians from this school that have innovated to impact the lives of many. This greatness will not only be linked to Ghana, not only to Africa but the whole world and I hope that we can attribute a part of that to the launch of this modern library facility and ICT Centre today,” he also said.
The MTN Ghana Foundation was established in 2007 as a single-purpose vehicle to drive all MTN’s CSR initiatives in the country. The Foundation currently has three focus areas – Health, Education and Economic Empowerment. The Foundation is set up as a separate legal entity with its own independent Board of Directors and Patrons who oversee the operations of the Foundation. Its commitment is centered around the socio-economic development of the country through the rollout of appropriate and sustainable social interventions in communities all over the country.
The main aim of the Foundation is to have a broad community impacting and supporting national and international development priorities. It facilitates partnership and sharing of resources to achieve mutual objectives.
