Kenya has been listed among the African countries making waves in technological advancements. Technology is not magic; it thrives in an enabling environment. Access to electricity, data, capital and basic infrastructure support organizations to successfully do business.
OVO Foundation, a Uk-based non-profit organization, has invested $1.95 million to provide electricity for rural Kenya. They partnered with another energy providing non-governmental organization, Energy 4 Impact, in a project dubbed “Jua”, to generate electricity through innovative off-grid solutions. The success of this project will bring electricity to more than 300 schools and health clinics in rural areas.

Gaby Sethi, Head of OVO Foundation said that they are bridging the rural/urban digital divide in education and creating safer environments for health service providers, by powering equipment and infrastructures.
Access to electricity is a major contributor to the inclusion of technology in schools and health clinics. OVO Foundation will install solar systems in off-grid communities to power educational and hospital equipment in rural areas. The project will benefit 300,000 people across 300 sites across Kenya in 3 years.
