PCCW and Mauritius Telecom Partners to Launch National Mobile Payment Solution

Mauritius launch first mobile payment

The Prime Minister of Mauritius, Honorable Pravind Jugnauth has launched the first mobile payment solution for the country. The mobile app will serve as a means to bridge the digital gap and provide accessible financial services for the unbanked population. This was unveiled in the capital city of Port Louis. 

The Mauritius Telecom’s my.t money is a mobile payment solution that is powered by PCCW Global. The mobile solution would be used to facilitate payment and non-payment transactions through the mobile application. It would be used to bridge the digital divide in the educational, commercial, finance, transportation and all government social welfare initiatives.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Sherry Singh, CEO of Mauritius Telecom said, “Mauritius Telecom is not just launching another service. We intend to positively disrupt the payment industry. my.t mobile app seeks to make payment fast, simple and fun. We already have 200000 signed up customers, 1000 merchants, and more than 200 loyalty partners”.

Mauritius Telecom and PCCW Global put together their expertise and experience in the development of my.t money app as a result of this partnership. my.t mobile app is based on the Tap & Go mobile payment service, first launched in Hong Kong by HKT Payment Limited – an affiliate of PCCW Global. International network connectivity, system installation, and integration, the supply of Point of Sale (POS) equipment and the management of native cloud applications to Mauritius, was also provided by PCCW Global.
