The New AfricaOnline JOLA Offers 100% Internet coverage in Ghana, With Copia’s E-commerce Platform, You Can Now Shop and Send Goods to Relatives in Rural Kenya and More

We have news that the Namibian internet service provider, AfricaOnline— a subsidiary of Gondwana International Networks (GIN) has rolled out a new JOLA service powered by Avantis HYLAS4. The service will offer high-speed broadband and 100% internet coverage in Ghana, through multiple spot beams. The JOLA service will ensure that remote locations are connected.

Atlas AI and the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) backed by Rockefeller Foundation and other partners. This partnership would employ artificial intelligence (AI) and satellite imagery to measure and predict crop yields to invariably boost food security in Sub-Saharan Africa. This will leverage technology to empower millions of smallholder farmers with advanced equipment to transition into modern farming techniques.

Moving on, FemBoiBiz Acceleration Program, a platform that focuses on women entrepreneur that are into agro food produce, health, biowaste, natural beauty products and nutrition, has called on women in the bioscience sector to apply for its third edition of the acceleration program. The FemBioBiz Acceleration Program is hosted by Southern African Network for Biosciences (SANBio) and development aid organization Hivos. It is valid for only women from the SADC member states. Next on the Big 5, Kenyan’s Copia has opened a warehouse in Tatu City and launched Copia Online, an e-commerce platform that will enable customers to purchase goods online for relatives and friends in rural Kenya. The move to go online will transition Copia from just a delivery agency to a full e-commerce organization. Customers in urban areas can now easily purchase goods to be delivered to their family and friends.

Finally, Dalsey Hillblom Lynn (DHL) has launched a new e-commerce app that links over 200 US and UK retailers to consumers from 11 African countries. The new app “eShop” was developed in collaboration with Link Commerce, a division of MallforAfrica. DHL will use its established delivery system to cover logistics and deliver items directly to the customer’s resident. Payment methods will include indigenous fintech options including Nigeria’s Paga and Kenya’s M-Pesa.
