UNESCO, the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization has signed a new partnership agreement with StarTimes. The deal will enable the duo to promote quality and inclusive education in Africa.
Founded in 1976, UNESCO has worked tirelessly to promote peacebuilding and poverty education in the globe. The international body achieves this through its education, natural sciences, social/human sciences, culture, and communication information programs.
Thus, the partnership is part of its aim to educate the African community, promote quality and inclusive education as well as youth participation in the cultural and creative industries. The partnership will also advance gender equality in sports and help to build knowledge-filled societies.

UNESCO will reach a wide range of audiences in Sub-Saharan Africa via the StarTimes broadcast network. The duo will also co-produce content, develop projects related to information, and share technology-based education.
They will also share programs on artificial intelligence, youth empowerment, social inclusion for people living with disabilities and culture.
The Regional Director and Representative UNESCO, Mr. Ydo Yao, noted that the partnership between the duo is crucial to address global and regional challenges affecting the world today. It will enable them to contribute optimally to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
On the other hand, the partnership will enable StarTimes to bring resources that can impact diverse areas in education, culture, social and human science, communication, and information.
The Vice President of StarTimes, Luis Lu, also lauded the partnership. He noted that the program is in tandem with the company’s social responsibility goal and aim to build a sustainable Africa continent.
