Visa– American multinational financial services provider, has acquired Payworks– a payment gateway technology. They plan to integrate Payworks’ processing software into their payment platform.
Payworks is a POS payment gateway software developer, and Visa plans to integrate this into their platform. Thereby creating a white-labeled omni-channel payment platform that will function in-store, in-app and even on online purchases.
Carleigh Jaques, SVP, global head of digital merchant products at Visa, said they have worked closely with Payworks to deliver front-line commerce solutions for their CyberSource clients worldwide. But as the solutions they provide become conventional, collaborating even more closely with Payworks and integrating the businesses becomes paramount for the business.

According to the CEO and co-founder of Payworks, Christain Deger, unified commerce is a huge opportunity for them and their clients. He said by combining their POS technology with Visa’s digital commerce capabilities, they can offer a joint solution to merchants and acquires all over the world. He said they are excited to join the Visa family.
In plain terms, the integration will enable Visa merchants the opportunity to offer their clients in-store, in-app and online. Visa merchants will also have the opportunity to support face-to-face transactions across POS terminals.
