The Vodafone Institute for Society and Communication has selected Ghanaian and Nigerian startups to participate in its Berlin-based F-LANE accelerator, alongside its global counterparts.
The F-LANE accelerator is a seven-week long program that aims to hone business and impact models, and in the process, get startups investment-ready. The program also aims to support and fund high-potential digital impact ventures that are focused on female empowerment.
The selected teams will receive a stipend of EUR12,000 to cover living, travel and venture expenses all through the program. The Institute will leverage the program to introduce the startups to personal mentors, potential business partners, and investors.

The selected startups are five in number, however, only two out of the five came from Ghana and Nigeria. They are;
Ghana
Developers in Vogue: A company committed to bridging the gender gap in tech. The company achieves this through a female-focused coding bootcamps. The boot-camp participants are reached through an AI-based platform.
Nigeria
Rubi Health: a health startup that offers psychotherapeutic care through video chat in local hospitals. The company targets expectant mothers who are confronted with anxiety during and after pregnancy. Mothers who as a result of the new anxieties suffer depression.
The rest are; India’s Together for Her, UK’s Safe & the City and Germany’s Boost Thyroid.
The F-LANE accelerator program will commence in October and end in November with a demo day. The five finalists will pitch in front of investors and decision-makers from business, media and politics during the demo day.
