Recent updates on WhatsApp mobile application include very many features and the most recent addition released for testing if the “read later” feature that allows for users to keep archived chats archived even when new messages are sent in.
This feature comes in as a replacement to the earlier feature that archives chat messages and it also enables functionalities such as “vacation mode” that keeps messages archived till they read without notifying the user when new messages arrived.
Other forms of communication via audio or video calls are also disabled for contacts that are added to the “read later” category of conversations to reduce interruptions.
Testing of the new read later feature has been spotted on the latest WhatsApp beta for the iOS version, more specifically on WhatsApp iOS beta version 2.20.130.1, and is expected to soon be released to the application users globally.
While the official dates for the full release have not been revealed, additional features that have been announced to users include advanced wallpapers (32 new bright and 29 new dark wallpapers) as well as new emoji characters.
