RapidDeploy Receives 12 million USD from GreatPoint Ventures, Samsung Next

South African, startup, RapidDeploy has announced on the 12th of February that it has raised the sum of 12 million USD, from GreatPoint Ventures and Samsung Next in a Series-A round. They did not however mention the stakes of the investment. The funding will help the startup to speed up the development and deployment of its cloud based platform.

RapidDeploy’s cloud-based software allows public safety officials to reduce emergency times and improve situational awareness. They are already deployed in over 35 agencies around the world. They have also processed over tens of thousands of calls.

It was founded in 2014 by Brett Meyerowitz, who was later joined by Steven Raucher who became CEO in 2016.

Meyerowitz said in a press release that the new funding and partners will enable the startup expand its product and technology teams. Managing Partner at GreatPoint Ventures and former President and COO of Oracle Ray Lane will join RapidDeploy’s board of directors.

Ray Lane said that GreatPoint Ventures is happy to join the RapidDeploy team. “Modernising the first-responder ecosystem with cloud-based dispatch technologies will enable public safety organisations to perform faster and seamlessly across jurisdictions,” he said.

Samsung NEXT’s Vice President and ventures Managing Director, Raymond Liao said that RapidDeploy’s products would aid Samsung’s end-to-end solution to public safety. This will include smart devices and public safety LTE infrastructure, demanded by emergency service providers.
