Zoom Video Communications have recently announced on their blog, plans to lift the 40-minute meeting limit on free Zoom accounts globally in recognition of upcoming global holiday celebrations just as it did for Thanksgiving in November.

The specified holidays include Hanukkah, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, and Kwanzaa with their respective dates and timings listed below:

• 10 a.m. ET Thursday, Dec. 17, to 6 a.m. ET Saturday, Dec. 19, celebrating Hanukkah

• 10 a.m. ET Wednesday, Dec. 23, to 6 a.m. ET Saturday, Dec. 26, for Christmas Eve and Christmas celebrations

• 10 a.m. ET on Wednesday, Dec. 30, to 6 a.m. ET on Saturday, Jan. 2, to celebrate New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, and the end of Kwanzaa (an annual celebration of African American culture that is held from December 26 to January

1.) These gestures follow Zoom’s recognition of the need for individuals and families to remain connected virtually during the holidays, especially because of global restrictions on travel and social gatherings.

Users are not required to do anything to activate the features of the unlimited call on the specified dates as it will be automatically enabled on the app at the designated time.

Security guidelines from zoom directed at users stated, “Protect your session from uninvited guests by requiring a meeting passcode to join and enabling Waiting Rooms – and don’t share your meeting IDs on social media or other public forums.”
