YouTube has decreased video quality to ease bandwidth usage during the Covid-19 outbreak. This will ease internet traffic for its users worldwide within a month. 

For the next month, according to the most popular online video streaming service provider, viewers will have the option to either watch in high definition or standard definition. Although  

YouTube already limits the quality of videos based on the user’s internet connection strength. The reduction of video quality will ensure that networks can handle the increased usage amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

In Europe, regulators already asked significant streaming service providers such as Netflix, Disney and Amazon to ease their bandwidth usage. YouTube is now extending the regulation in Europe to other parts of the world. 

According to Sandvinea network analysis firm, for the first time in the Global Internet Phenomena ReportYouTube is above Netflix by traffic volume on the internet. Millions of people are self-isolating at home to contain the spread of the virus. There is a surge in the number of users watching YouTube, especially for viable information during this global pandemic.
