EsVendo Improves Sanitation for Women in East Africa with Innovative New Method - TGA

What is EsVendo?

EsVendo is a social enterprise that creates innovative solutions through vending machines founded by Esther Mwangi. Their latest creation provides women with access to sanitary, inexpensive towels.  The company currently has 4 vending machines deployed in high traffic locations in Kibera, Kawagware, and Kikuyu.

What is their aim?

The machines are aimed at providing a cheaper and more convenient alternative to women who are opposed to sanitary pads living in the slums.  The company intends to cater to the households that earn $3 per day or less.  The age range of women they target are anywhere from around the age of 13 to 45.

Over 65% of women in Kenya are unable to afford sanitary pads, thus a healthy and sanitary alternative has been provided by EsVendo, the sanitary towel vending machine. These machines are placed in facilities located in highly trafficked areas in the slums.
