10 African Startups Emerged winners at Seedstars Africa Summit, Farmshine Secures $250,000 Funding to Scale Its Business Model and More

Big news! Seedstars Africa Regional Competition has announced 10 African startups as winners. The startups now stand a chance to pitch at the Seedstars World Summit in Switzerland. They will pitch for the $500,000 grand prize come April 2020.

Have you heard? Cell C and Explore Data Science Academy both in South Africa have collaborated to roll out Cell C Data Scientists. They will leverage the partnership to train, fund and develop skills for 24 African youths.

Next on the Big 5, Nairobi-based Farmshine has secured $250,000 funding from Gray Matters Capital. The agritech startup will leverage the funding to scale its business model.

Also, ride-hailing company Uber has launched in Abidjan, IvoryCoast. The launch is in a bid to conquer more African markets and provide swift and affordable transportation services to commuters.

Finally, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, Google founders have resigned from their various roles in Alphabet. In this regard, Google CEO Sundar Pichai will take over Larry’s role as CEO while Sergey’s role as President will be removed.
