In the light of Gokada’s debut, we wish to inform you of SWVL’s plans to extend operations to Lagos Nigeria. The Cairo-based transportation company is also in search of a Country General Manager for Nigeria.

Africa Union renews partnership agreement with Huawei, despite allegations of data leakage from its headquarters between 2012 and 2017. Huawei will offer cybersecurity, digital health, and other services to the African Union through this new deal.

Following the ban of Huawei in the USA, Facebook has revealed plans to stop pre-installation of their apps on Huawei’s devices, including Whatsapp and Instagram. Existing users will not be affected by this ban, but might be unable to update their apps.

The African Development Bank and partners are set to launch the African Digital Financial Inclusion Facility (AFDI) on June 12th, 2019. They do this to ensure that more Africans have access to financial inclusions, jobs and investment opportunities.

The e-commerce company, Jiji has recently acquired OLX’s businesses in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. Although the acquisition is still subject to regulatory approval, OLX users would be redirected to Jiji’s portal when approved.
