Huawei Invests $30,000 to Establish ICT Academy in Uganda, Mixed feelings as Uber releases Quiet Mode Feature for Drivers and More

Huawei has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Makerere University to set up ICT academy in Uganda. It plans to invest $30,000 to sponsor the project.

Speaking of technology advancements, the second edition of the Africa Blockchain Conference will hold on the 3rd and 4th of July, 2019 in Uganda. The conference is a platform for local and international stakeholders to share knowledge and experience with emerging technologies across different sectors.

The Nigerian Immigration Service has announced a modification of their Visa policy to enable seamless issuance of visa-on-arrival to African citizens. They also launched an e-visa application service. Click here for eligibility criteria.

The next gist is from South Africa. AgriSA and Aerobotics have partnered to provide South African farmers to with free satellite farming data. This partnership will provide farmers with information and assist them to identify pest diseases to improve yields.

Listen up! No shush…. Uber USA has launched a new feature that allows riders to minimize conversations throughout the ride. The ‘Uber Quiet Mode” feature will give riders three options to choose from – “Quiet Preferred”, “Happy to Chat” or “No Preference”. What do you think about this feature?
