Kenya Ranked Top African Country for Artificial Intelligence Readiness, MTN Group Launches AI Enabled Mobile Money Chatbot and More

Kenya has been ranked 52 out of 194 countries by the International Development Research Center and Oxford Insight. It was the first African country whose government was ready to embrace Artificial Intelligence technology.

Agritech Startups from all over the world are invited to apply for the GSMA Innovation Fund for Digitization of Agricultural Value Chain. Eight startups with the most innovative agribusiness ideas will be selected and provided with £220,000 grant to grow their businesses. Interested? Click here

The Paradigm initiative has condemned the government of Liberia for shutting down social media platforms. Social media platforms were shut down, shortly after citizens protested against missing funds and poor governance in Liberia.

Azuri Technologies, one of the major distributors of off-grid solar electricity in Africa, has recently raised $26 million in a funding round. They plan to expand into the rural communities in East and West Africa, providing lighting, TV and other solar-enabled products and services.

And the last gist for the day is about MTN Group’s newly launched AI-enabled Chatbot. The chatbot will be on the Mobile Money platform to help customers handle payment transactions on Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp and via SMS. MTN Mobile Money is used by over 60 million customers in 15 African countries.
