The first news on the Big 5 follows the trade feud between the US and Huawei. The US President Donald Trump announced at the G20 Forum that Huawei can finally do business with US companies. This announcement comes after a trade restriction declared two months ago.
Careem, a popular ride-hailing company in Africa and the Middle East has partnered with Etisalat. They plan to roll out free unlimited Wi-Fi to passengers from mid-July. Riders would be able to access connectivity via the Careem mobile app.
Bolt, yet another on-demand ride-hailing company has introduced a new feature for group trips. Dubbed “Bolt XL”, the service will allow 6 passengers to book a group ride at a subsidized price. Prior to Bolt XL, only 4 riders could share a ride.
A new on-demand delivery service provider, Kwik Delivery has launched in Lagos, Nigeria. The company targets small and medium enterprises in business-to-business transactions. With the mobile app, businesses would be able to hail Kwik motorcycles for express delivery across Lagos State.
Courtesy of Liquid Telecom, South Sudan will soon connect to the “One Africa fibre broadband network which spans across 13 African countries. This was announced at the project inauguration held on the 1st of July 2019. It was graced by notable government and business executives.
