African Fintech Startups Win Big In Visa Everywhere Initiative… Visa Africa has announced Kenyan E-commerce start-up, Mookh and two Nigerian FinTech start-ups, CredPal and Zowasel as winners of the Visa Everywhere Initiative at the finals held in South Africa. The start-ups took home about $25,000 in funding from the Sub-Saharan edition of the Visa Initiative.

According to a report by the Communications Authority of Kenya, Kenya’s mobile penetration rate has hit 95% in Q1 2018, as cited in an article by Techweez. Safaricom has 67% market share of the mobile subscriptions, Airtel is next with 19.7% (grew by 2.5%) and Telkom is now at 8.6%, down 0.4%.

Andela Launches in Rwanda… Pan-African software development training start-up, Andela has made Rwanda its fourth African market with the launch of a technology hub in Kigali via a partnership with the Rwanda Development Board (RDB).

Fintech Start-up, Flutterwave has finalized its expansion to Uganda…some of Flutterwave’s services like card payment processing are available in almost all African countries but, this expansion makes Uganda just the latest country where they have all their services localized. That’s after Kenya, Ghana, and Nigeria.

The Korean electronics giant said on Wednesday that its recently developed smartphone panel has been certified by Underwriters Laboratories, meaning it’s ready for shipping to consumers in actual devices.
