The Big 5 Daily: Bambooks Launches Largest Digital Library in Nigeria, Ethiopia to Launch Space Satellite and More

Bambooks has launched a mobile application, Nigeria’s largest online library. The digital library allows users to access thousands of eBooks, magazines and comics from any internet related devices such as mobile devices, tablets, and computers.


Ethiopia has announced the launching of its first $8 million satellite into space in September 2019. In order to make this happen, China has provided $6 million in financial support and will provide training and the cost of launching the satellite.


The satellite will gather data inputs related to water, agriculture, climate change, and environmental protection.

Nigeria’s Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo has disclosed that the country’s government is in talks with the African Development Bank (AfDB) to create $500 million innovation fund for technology and creative sector.


The organisers of the Lagos Digital Summit have taken yet another stride with the success of their second event on the 23rd of November, 2018. Within the short space of three-month when its mobile application PesaPap was launched, Kenyan Family Bank has surpassed the Ksh500 million mark in loans disbursed, to both its customers and non-customers. The mobile application has also recorded an average of 50,000 transactions per month between August and November 2018.
