InDriver – The company was founded in Russia with its headquarters in New York. The app allows passengers to set their own fares for drivers to accept, decline or counter. They currently operate in 200 cities, with about 26 million people using the app.
Russian on-demand ride-hailing company, InDriver has expanded its services to Kampala, Uganda. This expansion to Uganda marks the fourth African country InDriver will be expanding to. The expansion will accord Ugandan users the opportunity to set their desired price before booking the trip.
InDriver is of the opinion that their strategic business model will significantly improve ride-hailing access in Uganda and provide riders with affordable and efficient service. They also intend to compensate their drivers by granting them the opportunity to preview routes before accepting a fare.

InDriver will, within the first six months of operation, charge their drivers a 0% commission fee. In essence, drivers are paid the entire fare of every ride without remitting any commission and afterward, would remit a 5-8% commission. However, they will be charged for taxes, tolls, and bank fees during the commission-free months.
According to a report from Techcrunch, InDriver’s Chief Marketing Officer Egor Fedorov said that they believe Africa will be a huge market for them to explore. This is due to Africa’s rising population and numerous cities.
